Welcome Home
‘Murugo’ means ‘home’ in Kinyarwanda. To us, the idea of ‘home’ is not a physical location but afeeling. A feeling of belongingness, connectedness, community, acceptance, safety, comfort, peace, and ultimately: a feeling of love.
Our dream is that when you visit Murugo Bay you will feel this sense of being at ‘home’, even if you have travelled miles away from the place you normally call ‘home’ to be here.

Property Overview
The Murugo Bay lakefront property includes 3 round thatched roof bandas (a large central banda and two-bedroom bandas that connect on either side via canopy walkways), a suspended look-out point
(connected to the central banda), a private sand beach, an outdoor firepit with built-in seating, and intricate connecting pathways that extend throughout the greenery of the property.
The large central banda (“Murugo”) has two floors. The ground floor includes a customdesigned
living-room and fully equipped kitchen, and the top floor is an open-air lounge and dining area.
Each bedroom banda (“Banda East” and “Banda West”) also has two stories. The ground floor is an open-air lounge and kitchenette, and the top floor is an enclosed bedroom with a California King bed, en-suite bathroom (featuring a volcanic rock rain shower), and a private balcony.
Connecting with your Host
Your host throughout your Murugo Bay stay will be Arsene. You will be connected with Arsene prior to and during your visit.
We also have a 24-hour walkie talkie service that you can use to communicate with Arsene while you are at Murugo Bay. We call it “Ask Murugo”! Arsene will show you how to use this when you arrive.
